New season, new wardrobe! But with so many different trends to wade through, it can be a bit daunting to discover what’s right for you. No worries! I’m here to help, bringing you a mini-series on dressing for your style. This week I’ve curated my top Spring Summer 2016 looks for… The Romantic.
How to tell if you’re a Romantic:
- Your look is delicately feminine
- A soft and light colour palette is your staple
- Anything lace, crochet or frilly has your attention
- You love ditzy prints and florals
- You basically live in a fairytale
The Romantic will be spoilt for choice this season with feminine ruffles practically taking over the new collections. Seen at obvious houses such as Oscar de la Renta, Balmain and Alexander McQueen, but also in less typical style at Mary Katrantzou and Michael Kors.
These dreamy ruffles along with bare shoulders will be your favourite new-season updates – whether one shoulder, cut outs or bardot.
A slight Hispanic theme ran through a few collections with black, white and rust-tones being the favoured colour palette. The cascading ripples and flouncy sleeves are reminiscent of a traditional Flamenco dancer. It’s the Romantic with an exotic twist, a bit of fierce fire inspired by the confident Latina. Juxtaposed with the naïve fragility of the traditional romantic aesthetic, this look is brought into the modern day.
So how do you achieve this style in everyday life? See below for a curated pick of the looks to shop now.
